About the Band:

Peter Evasick, Mystery Bay String Band leader, plays fiddle and mandolin and is a well known musical legend throughout Jefferson County. He started out in the Louisiana bayous learning traditional Cajun tunes before bringing his jambalaya voice northwest to the sloughs and swamps of Marrowstone Island.

Ty Fleeson, guitar, banjo, and vocals for Mystery Bay String Band, has played bluegrass, blues, and cowboy tunes throughout a long and varied career as a commercial salmon fisherman, carpenter, and poet writer-in-residence. Ty says, “I started playing guitar and banjo at the old Kulshan Tavern in Bellingham. The owners gave us free beer if we played and the place rocked 7 days a week.”

Hank Snelgrove, double bass player for The Mystery Bay String Band has played with many largely unknown and defunct bands such as The Marrowstone Mountain Boys, The Standbys, The Mojitos, Shady Grove, Raven’s Revue, The Road Agents, and PRM. In his words, “I started out trying to play like Ron Carter, and I'm still trying.”
