Port Townsend Web Developers Meetup #25: Second Anniversary Party!

Free
The CoLab

It's hard to believe the Port Townsend Web Developers group has been around two whole years now! I still remember putting together the first session—I had hoped four or five people would come and somehow over twenty intrepid souls showed up. Since then we've had good numbers at just about every session. We have learned all sorts of wonderful things from local web development professionals and hobbyists, gotten to meet our fellow local coders, and consumed untold quantities of Waterfront pizza. And I think all in all, it has been a really big success!

This year was distinguished by the creation of our first offshoot meetup group: PT Tinker. This group focuses on hardware and microcontrollers to make really cool things with a real world footprint. It's a perfect fit for our community of makers, creative entrepreneurs, and young robotics engineers. The group is led by David Ehnebuske and Tim Finer and they meet on third Thursday of the month at rotating locations. The group is open to all skill levels.

Beyond that, we learned about making killer snake AIs, SQL database migrations, WebGL, JSON schema, lean web applications, Arduino coding, code editor strengths and weaknesses, Angular, Vue, Gatsby, application security, and an incredibly impressive IT system modeling software package.

For the next session, we'll skip the presentation and focus on what is perhaps the more important part of these get-togethers: eating pizza, drinking beer, and hanging out. It'll be fun, promise.

Cheers and thanks for helping make this meetup group awesome. Hope to see you there!
