PLEASE NOTE: This workshop will take place at Curly Girl Art Studio, 889 53rd St., Port Townsend . Limited to six students only.

Create one-of-a-kind prints (monotypes) with pigmented beeswax and paper on a professional heated aluminum palette; this modern off-shoot of encaustic artwork involves touching a warmed plate with chunks of colored beeswax, manipulating the strokes in a huge variety of ways and then laying paper down to absorb the wax. Once lifted, the print dries instantly, and the result is an original monotype. This medium creates gentle surprises and aha moments, resulting in beautiful representational and abstracted images, landscapes, and rustic patterns. The freedom of this process is the ability to fiddle, play, discover, relax, explore, express and let go – a fast and fluid process and yet meditative. Each day will involve instructor demonstrations, quick guided exercises and as much time to print as possible.
