Blue Jean Benefit - The Power of Forgiveness

Dinner and Keynote speaker Anthony Thompson

Do you remember the “Charleston 9”? June 17, 2015, was the day Dylann Roof, a young man attended the Wednesday evening Bible study at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. An hour later, Roof pulled a concealed weapon and killed nine African-Americans, including Myra, Rev. Thompson’s wife. Myra's murder devastated Anthony, yet he chose to privately and publicly forgive the shooter. This tragic experience led Rev. Thompson to discover how the difficult decision to forgive became the key to profound change.

Many will not experience the tragic situation Rev. Thompson encountered, but every one of us will suffer loss and disappointment. Sometimes the hurt isolates us and we conclude no one can understand how we feel or how to help. The vision of MARKINC is to offer lasting help and hope, especially to the hurting. MARKINC resources are designed to reach into the darkest crevices of a broken heart and encourage the hurting person, equip friends to come alongside of them and reinforce the desire to walk by faith, no matter our circumstances.

MARKINC is fortunate to have a living example of this very principle speak at our Annual Blue Jean Benefit dinner on Tuesday, May 24th. We would like to extend an invitation to come and personally witness the story of how God transformed Rev. Thompson and who you will share this invite with to hear this powerful, life-transforming story.

We believe this inspirational message of “The Power of Forgiveness” is one you will not want to miss.
