Mixed Media Collage Class

Series
Old Alcohol Plant Inn and Restaurant
310 Hadlock Bay Rd, Port Hadlock-Irondale, WA 98339, United States

Students will be guided through the process of gathering, assembling and creating their own special visual language by using a variety of personal collage materials.

Techniques of metallic leaf, crackle finishes, and painting on collage will be taught. Students will be inspired by new materials, applications and assembly. Students will work on a number of 2D and 3D mixed media projects and be taught simple exercises that will help them discover their own individual creative process.

Students who take Session 1 may also sign up for Session 2 to build upon the techniques learned in the first session. Both sessions appropriate for beginner-intermediate skill levels, with opportunity to learn at your own pace.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: GARY NISBET has been represented by galleries in New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, and Los Angeles. His first art dealer in Seattle was Lisa Harris Gallery, where he celebrated a 25-year career with a major retrospective in 2016.

Nisbet has taught both adult and youth art workshops at art centers around the country, and spent time on the faculty of Massachusetts College of Art and Design (Mass Art). He opened and ran his own gallery and art school, The Dot Gallery, in Hingham, MA.

Nisbet returned to the milder climate of the Pacific Northwest in 2015, and settled in Port Townsend before taking up residence at the Old Alcohol Plant in February of this year. As Artist in Residence, his work is on display throughout the Old Alcohol Plant, and he will be offering a series of workshops and classes.
