For centuries the potter’s wheel has been an instrument for creations in clay. An infinite number of possibilities continue to exist. This class is open to all levels: for the beginner this will introduce the basic elements of centering, creating vessels, trimming, adding textures, creating sculptural forms and more. For the intermediate and advanced student this workshop will address making more complex functional and sculptural forms.

Students may choose to keep up to 5 unfired pieces from the workshop. No pieces will be fired during the workshop. Students who enroll in the follow-up 5-week class Creating on the Potter’s Wheel will have their selected pieces fired during the 5-week class.

Materials: 25 lbs of clay included. Additional clay can be purchased at Wilderbee Farms.

Instructor: Jim Romberg, Professor Emeritus in Art, Southern Oregon University. Studio artist in ceramics since l968. See website: jimromberg.com
