SUMMARY:Student Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Port Townsend School District\, with support from the 
 Port Townsend PTA\, has hosted  “Art Night" for several years\, som
 e years at each school\, and some years all together in one. We have e
 xhibited over 3\,000 pieces of student art some years\, mostly to fami
 lies of students.\nThis year\, we are branching out into the community
  by hosting gallery hours downtown\, over six days\, including an open
 ing night on Thursday and participation in First Saturday Art Walk. Wi
 th the City of Port Townsend donating use of the Cotton Building\, we 
 will be able to reach a much wider audience. By adding open hours and 
 at least two events over the week\, we will also give more families th
 e chance to see their students’ work\, which was harder to accomplis
 h in a one-night event.  \nOur goal is to not only expand the reach 
 of the students’ art exhibit\, but to instill a sense of pride and b
 elonging for the students in the wider community of artists in Port To
 wnsend.  We hope they feel more seen\, heard\, and appreciated as you
 ng creators.  We consider this one of the most hopeful events of the 
 year.  Art lifts us all up\, and expresses more than we can say.  We
  hope the community will get an insider view of what inspiring things 
 are happening in our public schools.  We are planning multiple events
  to give the community more opportunities to engage with student work\
 , including: \nThursday\, April 2nd\, 5-7pm: Opening Celebration feat
 uring  OCEAN's "trashion" runway show @ 5:15pm\nSaturday\, April 4th\
 , 5-8pm: First Saturday Gallery Walk with food from PTHS Culinary Arts
  Food Truck and live music. \nGallery Hours\nFriday\, April 3rd\, Mon
 day\, April 6th\, and Tuesday\, April 7th\, 3-7 pm\nSunday\, April 5th
