SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Arroussiak Gabrielian & "Convergence: Contemporar
 y Artists of Armenian Descent"
DESCRIPTION:Join Forest Lawn Museum for a monthly artists talk featuri
ng "Convergence: Contemporary Artists of Armenian Descent" artist Aro
ussiak Gabrielian and moderators Dr. James Fishburne and Kaloust Geu
del. \nABOUT AROUSSIAK GABRIELIAN: \nFor the past several years\, A
ROUSSIAK GABRIELIAN has been developing design prototypes that questio
n the role humans will play in the environmental future. Her work enco
urages new habits and rituals to promote cooperation\, respect\, and c
are. Rather than offering quick technological fixes\, she asks how des
ign can reshape and strengthen our sense of responsibility during a ti
me of ecological crises. Deploying natural systems\, living organisms\
, and elemental matter as active agents in design\, her practice quest
ions assumptions of human exceptionalism and expands what counts as in
telligence\, agency\, and collaboration. By foregrounding the vitality
  of soil\, water\, plants\, fungi\, and atmospheric systems\, she prov
okes new relationships and practices of interdependence that move away
from extraction and exploitation and toward reciprocity and shared su
 rvival.\nABOUT THE EXHIBITION:\n“Convergence: Contemporary Artists o
f Armenian Descent” is on view at the Forest Lawn Museum through A
ugust 9\, 2026. From bold experiments in abstraction to thought-provo
king conceptual installations\, “Convergence” features the work
of more than twenty artists who push the boundaries of traditional me
diums and challenge conventions with their daring visions. The exhibi
tion does not attempt to cover the entire spectrum of Armenian narr
atives. Rather\, its cohesive element is the heritage of the featured
artists. With diverse backgrounds—ranging from those born in the Uni
ted States to immigrants from various regions—these artists contribu
te individual perspectives to their work. Defining Armenian identity
is inherently complex. It encompasses a sense of belonging that surpas
ses simplistic definitions\, rooted in historical connections that oft
en evoke profound and abstract emotions.  \n“Convergence" is cu
rated by artists Alina Mnatsakanian and Kaloust Guedel\, in collaborat
ion with James Fishburne\, Director of Forest Lawn Museum.\nThe exhibi
tion features work by Martiros Adalian\, Rouzanna Berberian\, Tina Cha
 karian\, Aroussiak Gabrielian\, Charles Garabedian\, Sophia Gasparian\
 , Liana Grigoryan\, Kaloust Guedel\, Charlie Hachadourian\, Alex Hedis
