SUMMARY:Marks, Materials and Practice: a Northwind Art class
DESCRIPTION:In this new workshop\, you'll explore the tactile\, expres
sive\, and meditative qualities of shape and line. Teaching artist Meg
Kaczyk (pictured) will guide you through simple visual prompts that i
nspire symbol-making. Over two hours\, you'll develop your own persona
l visual vocabulary\, creating unique symbols using dry and wet media
 — including sumi ink\, charcoal\, acrylic\, and graphite — as well
as subtractive techniques like erasure and resist.\nMark-making as a
practice encourages relaxation while building a practical understandin
g of how different media respond to different surfaces\, helping you d
evelop line and symbol as elements of your art. You'll leave with a bo
und booklet of your exploration pages.
