"The Blossoms are Ghosts at the Wedding" is a collection of essays and poetry evolved out of Mr. Jay’s now well-known approach to etymology as the art of conservation, casting language in the metals of primary cultures, of their anima/animal spirit, and in our present need for a decolonial reinhabitation. His essays “Salmon of the Heart” and “The Necessity of Beauty” are included here as studies in a wilderness which sustains and upholds the continuous backroads and highways of our vagrant civilizations. With an Introduction by Tony Angell, the book contains a portfolio of eighteen photographs by the late Mary Randlett documenting the casting of Salmon Woman & Raven, a Tom Jay sculpture commissioned by the city of Bellevue, Washington.
