Dates: Mondays, 5:30 – 8:00PM, Oct 11th – Nov 8th, 2021; Field trip on Saturday, Oct 23rd from 10:00 – 12:30 PM in uptown Port Townsend. Optional fruit orchard tour from 12:45 – 1:30 at Blue Heron Middle School

Our popular Fall Growing Groceries class is taught by seasoned Master Gardeners who specialize in growing food. This class will be 1x/week for 4 weeks.
Interested in growing your own food this year? Join Master Gardeners and seasoned gardening experts for a fun filled four– week class.
This 4-week Zoom course will focus on the garden essentials for your spring garden. Topics include:
Location & Climate;
Soil amendments and improvements;
Garden types (pots, residential, and permaculture),
Fall considerations for fruit trees and bushes,
Plant Family/Crop Rotation
Garden planting calendars
“Salad bowl” and microgreen kits included
We will also host a half day field experience to learn about composting, vermiculture, self-watering planters, putting the garden to bed and fruit tree orchard care.

Each participant will pick-up a notebook with WSU publications that will supplement the classroom learning as well as a “salad bowl” and microgreen kit. Pick-up locations are in Port Hadlock and Port Townsend.
The companion course, offered in the Spring.
Spring Topics include: soils, best cultivation practices, seed starting, early spring pest management and spring pests/diseases
Fall Companion Class Topics: soil improvement, garden styles, including permaculture and container gardening, crop rotation, bed preparation and irrigation.
