ART DAY AT POPE MARINE PARK
On the afternoon of Sunday August 21st, Soundcheck will be organizing a flurry of art-focused events at Pope Marine Park on the waterfront in downtown. Margie McDonald, Patrick Forrestal, Julie Read, Michele Soderstrom, Jesse Watson and others will be on hand helping lead the festivities. There will lots to check out and all of it is free and accessible to everybody!
Activities include:
- Create with PT Artscape! — PT Artscape, the instigators of Art Wave who have been bringing professional artists into our classrooms since 1998, will be leading participatory community art projects and other fun and inspiring activities.
- Collaborative Sculpting — Margie McDonald will be coordinating collaborative sculpture projects for everybody who wants to participate.
- Glass Blowing — Patrick Forrestal from Glassworks will be doing live glass blowing demos.
- Visual artist demos — Local artists will be in the park doing miscellaneous art-making to be observed and admired by all.
- Face painting — The LeftWing FacePainters will have a station doing both classic festival-style facepainting and left-wing radical facepainting.
- Portraits — Get your portrait drawn from a young artist-in-training!
- Mingle with Orcas — Our friends at the North Olympic Orca Pod will be floating through the park in costume.
