Matt Sircely and Jonathan Doyle will perform duets Finnriver on August 14 from 6:30-8:30pm with Doyle on saxophone and clarinet and Sircely alternating between guitar and mandolin.
Clarinetist, saxophonist, composer, and arranger, Jonathan Doyle holds decades of experience with American roots music, particularly early jazz, jug band, and country blues. From his home not far from the Chimacum light, Doyle often hits the road, most frequently visiting Chicago and Austin. After a brief stint in Austin with the Asylum Street Spankers, Doyle joined the vibrant traditional jazz, swing, and western swing scene in Central Texas, performing with well-established acts such as Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel as well as leading his own project, The Jonathan Doyle Quintet/Swingtet. www.jonathandoylemusic.com
Matt Sircely moved from Pennsylvania to Port Townsend in 1999 with a guitar, a fiddle, a couple of mandolins, and his first dozen songs. Sircely draws upon a breadth of influences to build his catalog of original songs such as folk, swing, blues, swamp pop and more. Oft cited for his work as mandolinist for the Django-inspired ensemble Hot Club Sandwich, No Depression has described his music in a review as “timeless”. Over the years, Matt has had the opportunity to study, perform and record with many of his musical heroes.
