The first musical child prodigy, Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre was one of the most celebrated composers in France at the turn of the eighteenth century, yet her music was largely neglected for the next 250 years. Our portrait includes her Cantata No.1 “Esther,” along with works for violin and harpsichord.
