Finnriver welcomes Cort and Kia Armstrong, a married couple from the Dungeness River Valley, near Sequim, WA, perform "mountain blues" music... a musical stew composed of country blues, mostly from the Appalachian Piedmont region, bluegrass, country and old-time stringband music, and several Armstrong "family songs" and originals. Kia's standup bass playing supports Cort's guitar picking and singing as they perform old songs from the likes of Rev. Gary Davis, Merle Travis and Doc Watson to newer songs Cort learned from his mother, wrote or maybe even a few Grateful Dead songs. The American songster tradition is alive and well with the Armstrong family. This performance will feature special guest, Sean Divine.
You can listen to tracks from the couple's debut album, Live in Dungeness, recorded in 2012, at Cort's website (http://www.cortarmstrongguitar.com/music).
*30 minutes before music starts, a cover charge (up to $5, excluding children) will be collected. All funds collected go to the music program.
