One of the most joyful ways to draw and paint is in a travel journal, aka an urban sketching journal. You can carry these lightweight and compact art materials with you everywhere, and make art anywhere from your backyard to the streets of Paris. The world is your subject. Travel journaling is also a forgiving art activity. No style is better than another. Slow and realistic, quick and playful, beginner or advanced — they all document your adventures and have a character of their own.
