Whether you sketch, draw, or paint in any style, from photos or by observation, it is hard to create a convincing building if you don't understand two-point perspective. Have you ever watched an urban sketcher or plein air painter quickly draw the lines of the building, making it appear to be perfectly three-dimensional? That's an artist who learned the concepts of two-point perspective and practiced until it became intuitive.
Teaching artist Anne Pfeiffer will demonstrate and explain both a simple two-point perspective exercise and how to apply it to a building. After practicing, we will move outside and sketch the wonderful buildings close by on the Fort Worden campus.
